Bella and Arrow got some great placings which included a second in their very first 2 foot class as well as some nice results in their jumpers!!
Shelby and Nevada had a super weekend. Nevada ended up fifth in her 2 foot class on Saturday. This was Nevada’s first ever show and we just taught him to jump back in April! Amazing!!
Debbie and Gigi were so good yesterday in the jumpers and had a couple of great rounds!! Great riding Deb! to edit.
A big congratulations out to our Spirit Ridge family who competed at the Kelowna Spring Classic horse show. It was a great week with lots of success and wonderful teamwork. Congratulations to the following horse and rider combinations.
Our more adult family members we hope celebrated a great weekend for all of them!
Gigi was baby green champion and many great placings with Deb in the pre adult division. We look forward to more from this pair this year.
Denise and Bres has many great placings in the 1.10 and 1.15m jumpers including second in the mini prix.
Bill Ulmer on his win in the View Winery Hunter spectacular out of a field of 36.
Frankie and Leila ended up third.
Our pre adults were amazing and great role models for our youngsters both in the ring and out, and certainly get the red ribbon for sportsmanship! As well as the following placings:
Alicia and Micca were pre child reserve champions. Micca just turned 4 years old a week ago and it was her first show.
Taeya competed Frankie in the 2’9 division which was her first time competing at that height. Taeya got some great ribbons and ended the show with a fifth place in her last class.
The young ones were also out there proving they are to be taken as serious competition.
Rebecca and Jellybean were Beginner hunter champions and also great results in the low hunter classes against some of the pros.
Bailey and Opus had many wins in their division.
Bella and Maddie also came home with many great wins.
Kenzie and Joni had a super show on Cinnamon. It was Joni’s second show ever and both Kenzie and Joni came home with many red ribbons. Even at 20 years old Cinnamon has so much to teach her young riders.
A huge congratulations and thank you to Leila Templin who ensures her students are not only safe, but also solid in their riding, and most importantly having a great time out there.
Not to be forgotten are the horses and ponies who tirelessly give to us every inch of effort they have in them. These horses love their riders and it shows that we have some great rider/horse partnerships.
And a thank you to each parent and family member or friend that came out to support and cheer on these riders. This sport is not for the light hearted and takes great dedication and sacrifice and a great support team behind each rider.
Spirit Ridge is so proud of all our riders, but everyone seems to take their turn in the spotlight and Kelly and her partner Welly are well deserving of their time in the limelight.
Kelly is not only an amazing SR family member, who always comes to the barn with a smile on her face, and a huge heart and quick to lend a hand to her fellow barn mates and the barn itself.
This weekend, Kelly finished her show season in a spectacular fashion - this amazing duo placed 4th in the Prelim Division and 3rd in the Championship. I know her coach, Leahona Rowland (also a SR coach) will be proud as punch of these two.
August 17, 18th and 19th - Busy Weekend for everyone.
Thunder Bird - Foxwood Riders and our owners Mel, Stacey and Sierra are all down spreading the Spirit Ridge Spirit and possibly enjoying some clearer skies then up in the Okanagan.
Campbell Valley - Our very talented eventer pair, Kelly and Welly went down to enjoy the grass fields and some blue(ish) skies.
Sunridge Meadows - Dressage ladies, Shauna, Liz, Joan, and Laurel all went to make sure that they left their mark on the Kamloops Camp! And if they didn't leave their mark in the ring (still waiting for some updates) I know by this photo they left their mark on their visa's and at Sara Vey's mobile tack shop.
Vernon - Leila took a small group of riders and horses (some of them for their first show) to the Vernon Riding Club Fun H/J Show. A BIG thank you to Vernon for continuing to put on such welcoming and great events! 99% of Leila's riders did amazing (minus the website admin who took a flying unplanned dismount - shout out to Vernon Emergency for the great care. This was Liam and Romeo's first show and first time together over fences. Sam and Romeo laid it down on both Hunter and Jumper day! Terri had her hands full between being a great show mum, riding her own horse Luc to some spectacular wins but also being Ava's catch rider while I was laid up. And finishing up the group was Alecia (Poko) and Debbie (Gigi) cleaning up the balance of the ribbons. A personal thank you to Leila, Terri and my hubby Al on filling in and taking such good care of my pony while I was laid up.
Not sure I could be more proud of everyone !!!!! Way to enjoy a summers weekend!!!
This is the third year we've had a mounted games day, usually around Sierra's birthday, and every year it gets bigger and better. Despite the scorching heat of 36 - 38 degrees - and the games taking place at the hottest point of the day - fun was had by all.
Teams were broken down to a couple in Lead Line, then Wee One, Young Equestrians and then our competitive and speedy Teen group. Events were Egg & Spoon (no cheating of course), Toilet Paper Race, Bubble Gum Race, Izzy Dizzy (thank god no one was sick or passed out, I think we may retire this game) and the rider and crowd favorite the apple bobbing (horse or rider).
To finish the hot afternoon we had a slip and slide for kids and adults (yeah for Tori in being the biggest kid!) and an amazing potluck and BBQ.
Thank you to Leila for all her assistance with the games, to Melony & Stacey Lund and Al Catton for all the pre-work that went into making the place ready. A big appreciation out to Diamond H Tack https://diamondhtack.ca/ for their sponsorship of prizes. An the biggest THANKS to all the kids who participated and the family members that came out to this event!
ps - I think the slip and slide will be making an appearance again before the summer is out!
